The technology department, the maintenance crew, and several staff worked together to provide each Middle School South student with a Google Chromebook on August 30. Each grade moved through the process in less than 10 minutes. The students are extremely excited to have their devices and begin using them for Personalized Learning.

Middle School North students were excited to receive their Google Chromebooks this morning. Middle School South students will also receive them this week. Students are able to take them home every night and use them as tools to extend learning and collaboration.
Several Hawthorn teachers have moved beyond the traditional classroom design. They have opted for new concepts such as flexible seating. This approach encourages students to choose their type of seating based on their learning preferences. Hawthorn elementary students settled into their classrooms and routines as teachers welcomed them back for their first day in school.
Hawthorn teachers and staff were completely energized as students returned for their first day of school. School buses rolled in, parents dropped off their children, and mothers and fathers waved good bye to their kindergarteners. Teachers, principals and administrators greeted the children as they entered the buildings. What a great start for the school year.
A flurry of activity is happening at the District’s schools as parents, children, teachers and staff get ready for the first day of school on August 23. Parents and children are connecting with teachers and staff through information nights, kindergarten bashes, get acquainted times, orientations and other events.
After a long summer, teachers have returned to Hawthorn and are busily getting ready to welcome students on Wednesday.
