Hawthorn School District 73 is inviting the parents of future students currently under the age of 5 to attend a free presentation focused on how to raise a reader. The meeting will take place on Thursday, February 8, at 6 p.m. at Hawthorn Elementary North, 301 Hawthorn Parkway in Vernon Hills.
Studies have shown that the first five years of a child’s life are a critical period of learning and development. Parents and caregivers are a child’s first teachers. This presentation in partnership with Cook Memorial Public Library will focus on five simple but important things parents and caregivers can do to help their children develop/acquire necessary early literacy and language skills.
