Hawthorn School District 73’s Board of Education has scheduled a meeting for residents interested in becoming members of the Board of Education. The meeting will take place on Monday, November 12, at 6 p.m. at the District Office, 841 West End Court, Vernon Hills, Illinois. The meeting is designed to allow community members an opportunity to talk with current board members about the time commitment, challenges and rewards of being a member of a school board. Board duties and the election process will also be discussed.
Four seats on the seven-member Board of Education for the Hawthorn School District #73 will be filled at the April 2, 2019 election. Each of the seats will be for a four-year term, or until April 2023. Nomination petition packets are available at the Lake County Clerk’s office, or online at lakecountyclerk.info. The petition circulation period for the nonpartisan election is underway. A school board candidate’s petition must be filed at the office of the Lake County Clerk, 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, IL between Monday, December 10, 2018 and no later than Monday, December 17, 2018 during normal office hours.
