The Financial Advisory Task Force has reconvened to assist with providing recommendations for balancing the District’s 2012-13 budget. The Task Force began meeting last year and was instrumental in developing options for closing a $1.5 budget gap. Upon reconvening, the group will look for additional spending reductions or revenue generators in order for the District to maintain a sustainable 25% minimum fund balance.

The volunteer team represents a variety of stakeholders, including parents, staff and community members from all neighborhoods and schools. Current task force members include Tommie Arens, Jeff Bard, Valerie Cohen, Angel Colon, Eileen Conway, Lynne DiVincenzo, Chris Frantz, Cynthia Frayman, Jill Halley, Joseph Husnick, Susan Jones, Joe Kain, Jim Kallieris, Raquel Kim, Scott Klene, John Langelund, Monica Lau, Amy Lebovitz, Rob Natale, Rachel Sapozhnikov, James Staples, Jayson Tran, Katie Waggoner and Steve Yates.


The public is invited to observe the team’s work by attending meetings, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hawthorn District Office on October 17, December 5 and February 6. Recommendations will be presented at the February 27 Board of Education meeting.
