On September 1, Middle South and Aspen began piloting a new web-based meal payment/management system. The new process will allow parents to go online to purchase meals and monitor usage. It also includes new “point of service” terminals in our cafeterias, which are designed to streamline the lunch line and the meal process. We plan to provide this new program to the rest of our schools later this year. Please read on for more information.
The Aspen/Middle South pilot program for the new meal prepayment/management system is called http://www.LunchPrepay.com. LunchPrepay.com is a secure, easy and convenient way to apply funds directly to your student’s meal account by going online and using a credit or debit card. Parents can easily check the account balance and review student purchases through a simple-to-use 90-day history report. You may also sign up to receive a low balance email notification.
Middle South and Aspen families are urged to begin using the http://www.LunchPrepay.com site immediately. Directions for using the system will be mailed to each Aspen and Middle South student’s home on September 2. To register for the program you will need to first go online to set up an account for each student. The account requires your child’s student ID number, which appears near the top of the September 2 letter. There is no membership fee for Hawthorn parents to use the system, however there is a $1.95 transaction fee to cover the fees charged by the credit card processor. Moving forward, parents will be able to pay fees into several students’ accounts with a single transaction.
Currently this system is only available at Middle School South and Aspen Elementary, where we are piloting the process. We plan to roll out the program to all other Hawthorn schools and students later this year. If you have students at the other Hawthorn schools, at this time you should still pay for their meal tickets through Hawthorn’s ePay website (http://www.hawthorn73.org/fees) or by sending a check to your school. Aspen and Middle South parents are also assured that funds paid prior to the pilot launch have been transferred to your student’s new meal account. Aspen and Middle South parents may also continue to pay for meals by sending a check to your school.
As with any new processes, we are all learning. We greatly appreciate everyone’s support as we pilot this new system, and discover ways to adjust and improve the processes for everyone. Again, thank you for your support and patience.
