During the June 13 Hawthorn Board of Education meeting, the first draft of a tentative budget for the 2011-12 school year was presented.
The budget, with a current bottom line of $51,622,088, is balanced thanks to the hard work of the volunteers of the Financial Advisory Task Force and through the support and cooperation of the Hawthorn Education Association and all Hawthorn staff members.

The board will continue to discuss the tentative budget during upcoming meetings, with a public hearing on the final budget expected to be scheduled for Monday, August 8, 2011 beginning at 7 p.m. at Hawthorn District Office, 841 West End Court.
