Early intervention screening

Local Partners Hold Early Intervention Screenings

Hawthorn District 73 and Cook Memorial Public Library District recently held an early intervention screening event at Aspen Drive Library in Vernon Hills. Parents brought children between the ages of 3 months and 4 years of age. Each child received a 30-minute screening to determine whether the child had attained the appropriate developmental milestones for his/her age. A team of educators assessed the children in the areas of communication, gross motor skills, problem solving and social/emotional growth. At the conclusion of each screening, the parents received a score of where their child was at, as well as a packet of resources and information.

Due to the positive response, the school district and library plan to hold these screenings several times per year. A possible future venue is Hawthorn’s Residency Event in August. For more information, call: 847-990-4513.
