Sonali Patil

Sonali Patil

Sonali resides in Vernon Hills with her husband and two children. She was a member of the district‘s Strategic Planning Committee and has volunteered in her children’s schools. Sonali has a Ph.D in pharmacology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Bombay in India. She currently stays at home to care for her children. (Term ends April 2019)

Jayson Tran

Jayson Tran has lived in Hawthorn District 73 since 1995. He and his wife, Michelle, live in Vernon Hills with two children who attend Hawthorn schools. A third daughter, also a Hawthorn graduate, is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He previously served on the board from September 2003 through April 2005. Jayson has been active within his school district and community including serving on the district referendum committee, strategic planning committee and as a Junior Achievement volunteer and youth sports coach (soccer, softball & hockey). Born in Vietnam, Jayson grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and holds a bachelor’s degree from UW-Madison and a master’s degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. He is currently a software engineer at Nokia’s Mobile Broadband Unit. (Term ends April 2019)

Wes Polen

Wes Polen resides in Vernon Hills with her husband, Scott, and their two children. She actively participates in the Hawthorn community by volunteering at various PTO and school events, and as a Midwest Young Artist Conservatory parent volunteer. Wes holds a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences from the University of Southern California, and a Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. She is currently a chief operating officer for a government relations consulting firm in Chicago.

Jeff Bard

Jeffrey Bard has lived in District 73 since 1999. He and his wife, Lori, live in Vernon Hills with their two children who attend Hawthorn schools. Jeff has been involved as a volunteer in the community with the Vernon Hills Park District, GLSA soccer program, and the Boy Scouts. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering & Public Policy and an MBA. Jeff is an environmental manager. (Term ends April 2019)

Robin Cleek

Robin Cleek attended Hawthorn schools as a child and returned to reside in Vernon Hills with her husband in 2004. As of August, 2015 all three of her children will be enrolled in the district. Over the past several years she has volunteered at various PTO events and weekly in the classroom, as well as serving on the Reorganization Committee in the spring of 2014. Robin has a Bachelor of Science in Child & Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She currently stays home with her children but still practices law when called upon by family and friends. (Term ends April 2019)

Matt Jacobs

Matt Jacobs has lived in Hawthorn District 73 since 2007. He and his wife, Abra, have lived in the Deerpath neighborhood since 2013. Their two children, Colin and Ryan, will attend Aspen Elementary School in the fall 2017. Matt has volunteered his time in charity work through his cover band, and with umpiring and coaching baseball and softball through the Vernon Hills Community Baseball organization. He has a Bachelor of Science in business administration, and is currently a Quality Assurance Analyst for W.R. Berkley Corporation in Naperville.

Julie Simpson

Julie Simpson has lived in the Hawthorn District 73 community since 2006. She and her husband, Jake, live in Vernon Hills, with their two children. One school age child attends a Hawthorn school. Julie studied political science at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. While in school, she served a term on the school’s judicial affairs board. She also spent a year as a resident assistant. Julie has been a stay at home mom since 2009. She currently cares for her infant son and has spent time the last few years volunteering in D73 schools.
