Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food Drive

Mark your calendars for March 10th as Boy Scouts from Troop 273 distribute door hangers in Vernon Hills to encourage residents to donate food the following Saturday, March 17th.  Families who receive a hanger are asked to fill a bag with non-perishable, non-expired food items and leave it on their doorstep the morning of Saturday, March 17th by 9:00 a.m.  The scouts will come by that morning to collect the filled bags.  If your home does not receive a hanger and you would like to participate, you can drop off your donation at Christ Lutheran Church (595 Deerpath) on March 17th between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.  The food that is collected on March 17th will go to a local food pantry.
SCOUTING FOR FOOD is a long-standing scouting tradition.  Scouts have always made a difference in the lives of their neighbors by lending a helping hand, and – as the Scout slogan states – doing a good turn daily.  Scouting for Food is one of the ways we serve our community.  March is when IL food panties are at their lowest.  Scouts answer that call and rally to collect food to replenish the pantries.  Cub/Boy Scouts in Vernon Hills will participate in the Northeast Illinois Council Scouting for Food Drive on Saturday March 10th and 17th.  Help us to help those in need.  To see our scouts in action, please watch this video:
Thank you for your generosity with this food drive.
