During National Children’s Book Week, teachers encouraged elementary students to read books. Many students accepted the challenge. They sent photos of themselves reading their favorite books to their parents, their siblings, their stuffed animals and even their pets. Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country.
