Community Corner

Hawthorn Food Pantry

We kindly ask for the community's support and generosity in helping the Hawthorn Food Pantry continue to provide essential resources to those in need. Your donations of non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, and financial contributions are crucial in enabling us to serve our community. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of our neighbors.

If you are in need of food, or have any questions please reach out to Gabriela Cervantes at 847-990-4245 or cervantesg@hawthorn73.org.

Upcoming Events & Programs

The Special Gifts Theatre

The Special Gifts Theatre (SGT) Musical Theatre Program is for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities ranging in age from 10 years through the age of 22.  In the Musical Theatre Program, students are engaged in educational and therapeutic programming that consists of classroom activities as well as rehearsal and performance experiences. Using the stage as a platform, the focus of this program is to enhance social skills, develop emotional literacy ability, and increase self-esteem.  Each student is paired with a peer mentor and together they practice character development, learn choreography, and perform on stage – all of which culminates into a full production for a live audience.

We have a Musical Theatre Program at Copeland Manor Elementary School in Libertyville on Tuesdays from 4:30pm until 6:00pm beginning in September 2023 through our final performances in February 2024.  Our musical production for this upcoming season is, "The Lion King Jr."  Currently we have openings for students and peer mentors at this program.
