Student Data Privacy
About
As of July 1, 2021, the Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA) requires school districts to ensure that student data collected by educational technology companies is protected and used only for beneficial purposes (105 ILCS 85). SOPPA also sets new expectations for the Illinois State Board of Education and online service providers.
District 73 uses the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC) and Education Frameworks EdPrivacy platform to vet and document all online services. For more information about SDPC or to view the Data Privacy Agreements (DPAs) that Hawthorn currently holds, please click the provided links.
**UPDATE: During the Summer/Fall of the 2024-25 school year, we are upgrading our system for cataloging approved vendors and DPAs. We have provided temporary links to the right in the Resources list while our new platform is under construction.**
