A  WiFi service plan is available through Comcast’s Internet Essentials service to families eligible for public assistance programs such as the National School Lunch Program, Housing Assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, and SSI.  The cost is $9.95 per month.  As a sponsor of Hawthorn D73, families who qualify for the Internet Essentials service, Hawthorn D73 will pay the $9.95 monthly fee directly to Comcast.

Comcast offers several verification options to make the process as easy as possible. A social security card is not necessary as Comcast will accept over 30 different documents, including a number of international documents.  Comcast also offers other options to verify identity, including through SMS text messaging on the parent’s/guardian’s mobile phone.  A full list is available at InternetEssentials.com/get-help. A household with outstanding debt owed to Comcast may still be eligible for Internet Essentials, due to the Coronavirus emergency.
