Welcome to Hawthorn District 73 Enrollment

We are excited you are considering joining our community. This page will walk you through every step of the enrollment process, explain what you need, and help you know what to expect. Our goal is to make enrollment easy to understand and easy to complete for all families.

Step 1 — Check Eligibility and School Assignment

Before you register, confirm your address is in the district and know your school.

Use our Boundary Map to see:

  • Whether your home is inside Hawthorn District 73

  • The school your child will attend

Tip: If your address is near a boundary line, contact the registrar before you register.

Step 2 — Register Your Child

New Students

Follow these steps:

  1. Complete the Online Pre-Registration Form
    This helps us collect your basic information so we can start your file.

  2. Confirm Residency
    Your address will be verified automatically using a secure service.
    If verification fails, our team will ask for additional documentation.

  3. Finalize in PowerSchool Parent Portal
    After pre-registration is accepted, you will receive an email with instructions to complete registration through PowerSchool and schedule an in-person appointment.
    Bring your child’s original birth certificate and your photo ID to the appointment.

  4. Pay Fees and Submit Health Forms (after registration is complete)
    Fees are applied after September 15 and can be viewed in your PowerSchool account.
    Health forms are required by Illinois law and must be submitted within 30 days of enrollment.

Returning Students

Returning families can register directly through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Simply log in, choose “Forms,” and complete all required pages before May 1 to ensure your teacher assignment and bus route.

Important Dates and Deadlines

  • New student registration opens: early February
