Public Comment Procedures

The Hawthorn Board of Education and District Administration are committed to maintaining open and effective communication with the educational community. We encourage residents to attend the monthly Board of Education meetings, typically held on the third Thursday of each month.

Board Meetings Schedule

Public hearings, required by law or on specific issues, allow individuals to address the Board. Additionally, the district occasionally hosts public forums to gather community input on pressing matters; these events will be announced in advance.

During regular Board business meetings, we adhere to the guidelines outlined in Board Policy 2:230 to facilitate public comments.

Board meetings are broadcasted for viewing on Vernon Hills cable access television, generally airing on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 4 p.m. Meetings can also be viewed live or accessed in our archives here. Official meeting minutes are posted on our website following Board approval and are available at the District office.
