23-24 School Start Times

The development of a seven-hour student instructional day was a collaborative process that began in April 2020. Currently, the elementary instructional day is 6 hours and 15 minutes long, and the middle school instructional day is 6 hours and 30 minutes long. Transitioning to a seven-hour instructional day will provide elementary students with approximately 11 more days of instruction. Middle school students will receive approximately seven more days of instruction.

The District 73 Board of Education, administrative team and HEA believe that increasing student contact time and professional development time for staff provides District 73 with the optimal opportunity to reach the district’s student learning goals.
