Principals Set to Read at Library

Close to one-third of Hawthorn School District 73’s 4,100 students participated in the library’s summer reading program.

The 1,305 District 73 participants in the Cook Memorial Public Library District. Reading program participants were balanced across the six schools.

In the fall the library district takes reading to a new level by inviting area principals to read to children. The library’s Principals Read program kicks off at the Aspen Drive Library. This library school connection will see District 73 principals read on the following dates at 6:45 p.m.:

  •  Monday, September 15—Mrs. Waggoner, Principal, Hawthorn Elementary North
  •  Monday, September 29—Dr. Tohme, Principal, Hawthorn School of Dual Language
  •  Thursday, October 2—Dr. Martin, Principal, Hawthorn Elementary South
  •  Tuesday, October 14–Dr. Kieffer, Principal, Townline School
  •  Monday, November 3—Mr. Fredricksen, Principal, Aspen Elementary School
  •  Monday, November 17—Ms. Nilson-Bugella, Principal, John Powers Center (This will be a “signed” story time.)
