Family at Residency Event

If You Missed the Residency Event

Many thanks to all the parents and families who attended this year’s Residency Event. If you missed the event, you can verify residency beginning on Monday, August 13, at the District Office, 841 West End Court in Vernon Hills. Please come between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. or between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Three documents are required to verify residency. To expedite the registration verification process, District 73 parents/guardians must bring originals and copies of the required documents. Parents or guardians must bring proof of residency within Hawthorn School District 73 by providing one document from each category listed below:

Category I

  • Photo Identification

Category II Proof of Occupation of Residency in District 73 (one document required)

  • Homeowners: Provide current monthly mortgage statement (or recent closing papers) with parent/legal guardian’s name and address or most recent property tax bill.
  • Renters: Provide properly executed lease agreement with parent/guardian’s name and address listed as renter, and signature page including name, address and telephone number of landlord for verification.
  • Those living with others: Provide a notarized Residency Attestation form for the District 73 resident/landlord explaining the living arrangement as well as all residency documentation of the resident/landlord.

Category III Additional Document Showing Name and Address (one document required)

  • Current utility bill (within the last billing cycle, typically 60 days), such as water, electric, gas, telephone, or cable bill
  • Current homeowners or renter insurance policy statement
  • Vehicle registration
  • Voter Registration Card

It’s Time to Register Returning Students for 2018-19

Deadline for Returning Online Registration is this Friday, May 18th

Parents should complete online registration through the PowerSchool parent portal https://ps.hawthorn73.org/public/home.html using the information that the district provided you in a Returning Student Enrollment for 2018-19 School Year Letter.

It is important for you to register your child as soon as possible. Students will not be assigned a teacher or a bus route until online registration is complete. Failure to do so will result in your child being dropped from enrollment. If your student(s) are not returning for the next school year, please send the enrollment letter back to your school before May 18.

*Friendly Reminder: Residency Verification documents will not be accepted prior to our district-wide residency event in August.

Kindergarten Registration

It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Families from across the District attended the Kindergarten Registration event at Middle School South on February 22 and 23. Enrollment in kindergarten is the start of an exciting new adventure for children and their parents.

Kindergarten Registration Dates: Feb. 22 and Feb. 23

Hawthorn School District 73 will hold its kindergarten registration for the 2018-2019 school year on Thursday, February 22, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Friday, February 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration will take place at Hawthorn Middle School South, 600 N. Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills. Children who turn 5 on or before September 1 are eligible for kindergarten.

To register an incoming kindergarten student, parents or guardians must attend one of the dates to begin the registration process. They must provide the following:

  • Original certified birth certificate (hospital or baptismal certificates cannot be accepted)
  • Residency verification documents (including photo identification and two proofs of occupancy for an in-district residence)
  • Completed pre-registration student information sheet(if it was not turned in at the Parent Meeting)
  • Completed School of Dual Language interest form (if applicable)

Also, parents are welcome to submit any legal documentation regarding child custody, orders of protection or other court-ordered matters.

Hawthorn School District 73 is a preschool through eighth-grade public school district serving approximately 4,300 students. It serves the communities of Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Libertyville, Indian Creek and unincorporated areas of Lake County, Illinois.

 

 

 

 

 

Phone System is Now Fully Functional

On Wednesday our phones were switched to a new system, which caused intermittent service.  Thank you for your patience.  The phones are now fully functional.  Please contact us if you have any problems.

New Families
Please let neighbors who are new to Hawthorn District 73 know that they may now register their children for the Fall 2017 school year. Families whose children will enroll in District 73 schools for the first time in Fall 2017, should fill out the required forms and turn them into the registrar during a scheduled visit. Please visit your local library to print out required forms if you don’t have access to a printer. Register Now for Fall 2015

Enrollment letters for the 2015-16 school year have been mailed to Hawthorn parents of returning students. Parents should complete online registration through the PowerSchool parent portal using the information that the district provided you in a Returning Student Enrollment letter. Please register your child on or before Friday, May 15. Students will not be placed in a class or on a bus route until online registration is complete. Failure to do so will result in your child being dropped from enrollment. Fees are due at the time of registration.
Please review the required health documents for each grade level to ensure your child is in compliance before the start of the school year.Parents of all students must provide required proof of residency documents at a new Residency Event at Middle School North, 201 Hawthorn Parkway, Vernon Hills. The event times follow:

  • 12 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 5
  • 12 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 6
  • 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, August 10
